Beyond the Bin
Responsible Path Beyond Donation and Beyond the Landfill
As part of the Sustainability First initiative, the Marquez-Mascardo Family Foundation created Beyond the Bin to address a growing challenge in our communities - the responsible disposal of household items that many charitable organizations are unable to collect.
While nonprofits often accept donations of reusable goods, many lack the resources to handle bulky furniture, mixed household items, damaged materials, and other difficult-to-manage possessions due to labor, transportation, and disposal costs. Too often, these items end up in landfills or are improperly discarded.
Beyond the Bin helps fill this gap by promoting and sponsoring environmentally responsible collection, recycling, and disposal solutions. The program supports efforts to divert reusable and recyclable materials from the waste stream, reduce landfill dependence, and encourage sustainable practices that benefit both people and the environment.
To achieve these goals, the Foundation collaborates with businesses that possess the expertise, resources, and responsible disposal practices needed to handle items that other organizations are unable to collect. Through thoughtfully selected partnerships, we help ensure that materials are reused, recycled, repurposed, or disposed of in the most environmentally responsible manner possible.
By giving household items a responsible path beyond donation and beyond the landfill, Beyond the Bin transforms a community challenge into an opportunity for environmental action, cleaner neighborhoods, and a more sustainable future.
